Speyfest In Session

The 'Speyfest In Session' events are nightly sessions held at The Fochabers Institute in the run up to the main event.

Open Sessions

30th July - 1st Aug

The Open Sessions are an exciting new addition to Speyfest. Throughout the festival their will be the opportunity for people to get together and join in with the music sessions in the Speyfest Pub and exchange or learn a new tune or two or maybe even sing a song. Of course you will also be very welcome to just come along and listen to the music.

For the first of this year's In Session events, Speyfest is delighted to welcome Dick Gaughan, one of Scottish folk music's guitar geniuses and finest singers. Capable of capturing the heart with the most tender of ballads in one moment and stirring the fire of the spirit with his uncompromising commentary on social injustice the next, this intimate Institute event offers a great setting in which to enjoy Dick's wonderful musicianship.

Supporting Dick are Manx musicians Katie and Kirsty Lawrence and local lad Andy "Pies" Walker collectively known as Breck. Breck combine fiddle, keyboard, guitar, cello and whistles to play a mix of original and traditional Manx music with a good dose of Irish and Scottish thrown in.
