Hayseed Dixie, Tour Bus Fortune, Sorren Maclean, Treacherous Orchestra

The Festival Night kicks off with Speyfest first-timers Tour Bus Fortune. Featuring some well known faces from the local music scene, they're giving popular tunes a bit of a Celtic makeover. And proving the true international appeal of their music, the band has already enjoyed its first tour to Baku.

Sorren Maclean is a young singer/songwriter from the island of Mull. He comes to Speyfest with his three piece band performing his own songs that have a distinctive indie/pop feel. A new name to Speyfest, Sorren has already played the likes of Beladrum and Celtic Connections, supported some great Scottish bands and recorded sessions for BBC Alba. Definitely one to watch for the future.

The Treacherous Orchestra is a 12 piece band that originally got together to play at the Festival Club at Glasgow's Celtic Connections. Since then they've headlined two of their own concerts at the festival including a sell-out gig at the Old Fruitmarket this time out. Individually, some of the brightest talent on the trad. music scene but together they produce a high energy wall of sound from a collection of instruments too numerous to name.

Hailing from the Appalachian Mountains of the Southeastern United States, Hayseed Dixie are acknowledged as the creators of the musical genre "Rockgrass". Their first album was titled "A Hillbilly Tribute to AC/DC", bluegrass meets rock. Four piece band with a truly unique sound, playing all things strung; guitars, fiddle, mandolin, banjo and bass.
