Friday's Concert features two of this countrys' "Super groups" and a young Irish band that has been described as trad. on anabolics! The Session A9 line-up is stellar with bands like Capercaillie, The Peatbog Faeries and Fiddlers Bid all represented...to name just a few! But the sound and energy are very much Session A9. The craic ensures their live performances are always entertaining.
Old Blind Dogs have been at the cutting edge of the roots revival for a good number of years now and have an impressive back catalogue of critically acclaimed album releases to prove it. With influences from the north-east of Scotland to the rhythms of Africa and the Middle-east, the music has its base in tradition but, when given the OBD treatment, will always sound fresh.
Formed in 2002, Antrim based Beoga is ripping up the rulebook when it comes to the traditional music of Ireland. Three hugely successful albums released, with appearances at the BBC's Proms in the Park, Cambridge Folk Festival and Glasgow's Celtic Connections as well as regular tours of the USA and continental Europe, we're delighted to welcome them to Fochabers for their debut at Speyfest 2009.This is a seated event.
