Karen Matheson
{@name}

When Sean Connery describes Karen Matheson as having "a throat surely touched by the hand of God." and Billboard magazine describes her as "the finest Gaelic singer alive today..." who is going to argue? Widely recognised as the haunting vocals of Celtic super-group Capercaillie, Karen was awarded an OBE in the 2006 New Years Honour list, just one on the many plaudits heaped on a career which began performing as a child in her local village hall on the west coast of Scotland. Karen's most recent album, "Downriver", released at the end of 2005, was critically acclaimed and the perfect platform for a huge vocal talent that has thrilled audiences around the world. And there is word of a new album in the Spring of this year. She will be joined at Speyfest 2010 by singer/song-writer James Grant and from Capercaillie, husband Donald Shaw and Ewen Vernal.
